The day was hot, hot, hot but we were thrilled to have the opportunity to go Nordic Pole Walking on the trails with the founder of the program, Dr Klaus Schwanbeck. Viviana (pictured here with Dr Schwanbeck) and I are anxious to introduce you to the benefits of Nordic Pole Walking this summer.

The lush gardens are begging for rain....we thought we might get a shower this evening and perhaps a thunderstorm....so far no precipitation or nature show.

One last ride for the adventure riders, early this morning, around the lake. See you all next year at the 3rd Annual Eastern Ontario Adventure Rally.

Young turks under the heat lamp - new birds for the fall have been installed in the barn. They are cute and cuddly right now - I'll keep you posted on their growth.

Don't forget the Winemakers Dinner on Sunday June 06.

The Second Annual Eastern Ontario Adventure Rally started with a hearty breakfast, designating groups based on experience or routing and then a revved-up departure for a day of riding -and what a day it was!

It's all about having great accessories.....

camping oasis
Super elite, sprinters and easy riders found a suitable group to ride with, at their own pace.
A relaxed outdoor barbecue was held when all returned to the Resort. Good comaraderie.

The horsedrawn carriage was a nice touch for the wedding
photos today. What a day for horsepower!

Tomorrow heralds the second annual Eastern Ontario Adventure Rally with bikers from across the province arriving to camp/cottage for a weekend of riding with a group of like-experienced, on and off road riders. The routes have been pre-determined and this gang provides an easy mix of fun and tall tales. Welcome back! Last year the group assembled for a morning photo (shown here) before hitting the trails.

The moon was burning through the trees tonight but try as I might I couldn't get the camera to co-operate so it looks like a study of the tree trunk....I expect to hear howling after midnight.
I hope you are enjoying the high temperatures and sunshine - ideal weather for a resort vacation..........need I say more?
It looks like change is inevitable....the blog name will soon be "Living the Dream" - can you handle that?

Early morning floatplane landing
on the water as the fishing boats catch the action and the fish.

You do not want to mess with the papa goose....he's very protective of his brood!

Glorious flying day for clubs from near Ottawa, Oshawa and Lindsay. June Special for pilots....free coffee in the Wild Blue Yonder! Make us your destination for lunch, dinner, overnight or activities.

They're back.....with gosslings. You may recall I recently took a photo of hundreds of geese on the lake....today they returned with families in tow.

Waterfront fowl on display...heron, duck, goose....a nature postcard. Sorry, the butterfly didn't make the photo.

This male mallard looked like a kid at a swimming pool learning to dive...he was tentative and made a lot of noise before jumping in and swimming away.

It's been a wonderful weekend of wedding anniversaries, birthday celebrations and activity. The Outdoor Patio was the place to be for a quick lunch or leisurely cocktail. The Victory cruise boat took Brunch guests out for a shoreline tour and the horses did several trail rides....several boats were out with avid and weekend anglers, the walking trails were well used and the waterfront was hopping....great weekend to start the summer season! What were you doing?

One year later....the McLarens return to the Hearthside Room for an anniversary dinner. Great to see them back!

Woke up to a racket on the shore....the ducks were disturbed, the water was churning - it was the carp trolling along the shoreline. The water is so clear it was easy to point out the sunfish and the carp. As I sat on the dock I was treated to the wildlife show with herons, osprey, water creatures and Hunter trying to figure out what was going on!

Spa notes....even the horses enjoy a pedicure. Douglas, our ferrier, was here today to care for the horses hooves...they loved it and so will you when you go trail riding.

Today was the ideal day to sit out outoddors and watch the world go by...can't wait to see you on The Patio.

The docks are in and Rick Laws is ready to go fishing....Rick will be working on the waterfront this summer and is available for guiding. You may get hooked if you go out with him once.

It was a lovely day for a trail test drive....the horses behaved beautifully and Angela is now ready for all you wanna-be cowboys and cowgirls. Book your lessons or a one hour trail ride and enjoy the view from the saddle.

Could this be the Rice Lake Sasquatch or the Kawartha Yeti? Suspicious looking enough but as soon as it got wind it was a kiter....for a moment it seemed like the makings of a good story!
Is everyone staying home for the long weekend? Stay 'n Play Packages for golfers are so reasonable it's obscene. Book your overnight getaway and play two rounds of golf....breakfast included.....only $169 per person.

It's Saturday night and this mallard was looking for a date....when the female showed up he played hard to get....then I suddenly realized, they must be a couple!

Visiting fisherman eats lunch on the front lawn. What a surprise ...caught Eddie the Eagle dining on a Rice Lake fish under the trees - flocks of smaller birds were curious but no one bothered big bird.
Quite a sight!
What a night for hockey fans in
Canada.... The Montreal Canadiens have taken the series over the
Pittsburgh Penguins and will move on to the next tier....
this could be a Canadian Stanley Cup team we watched tonight.
Bonne chance Habs!

Vintage Boat Classic registrations are looking good for July 04 - are you booked?

Walking in Winnipeg I found another torch bearer on the top of the
Manitoba Legislature - Golden Boy (really gold), carrying a torch and a sheaf of wheat, is an icon here. I am attending Rendez Vous Canada, a trade show for buyers of Canadian product. It's wonderful to see our partners and to meet new travel industry folks who are keen on selling us in their markets.

Across from my booth (yes, I'm working) the Royal Canadian Mint features the Olympic Medals - Mounties are available for photos (you must wear white gloves to touch the medals). A steady stream of interested parties flow through to see, touch and be photographed with the beautiful medals. In retrospect I should have brought my torch to the booth. The Olympic memories live on!

Happy Birthday to Peter Elmhirst (Sunday is the day but I thought you would want to call with best wishes). I would never reveal his age but I did offer to take him on a road trip down Route 66 to celebrate.
Retirement isn't that staid as Peter is busy with the farm, flying and making sure every rogue tree on property is replanted somewhere. In his spare time he rides his motorcycle, searching for the least travelled routes.

Intrepid adventurers from Thomas Cook UK take a sightseeing flight on the maiden water voyage of CBY in 2010. This aircraft has amphibs which allow for landing on water and on land.

The new EDO 2000 floats are on FET (Piper Cub used for float training) so let the lessons begin!

Don't forget Mothers Day on Sunday - Brunch is sold out, however, dinner reservations are still available. Make your mother proud, take her to dinner.

Great news for golfers....new Stay 'n Play package offers 18 holes of golf at Bellmere Winds, next door, with cart; overnight at Resort; breakfast and another 18 holes of golf with cart for only $169 per person. Reservations 1-800-461-1940 May 24 weekend still available.

Haircut for the trees along the waterfront by the superior cottages....allowing for lovely breezes and better views of the lake. The roadway was not safe from the clippers either....opening up the lane and providing more firewood. It was a sad day but I know the results will please you on arrival.
We had some rain this past weekend, lovely rainbows and amazing skies. Now the grass is out of control and the trees are budding...the cover is off the outdoor pool and the grounds are looking fine for Mother's Day.
Today it feels like the sun and the wind are playing that game we read about as kids...enough with the wind!
Peterborough is hosting the International Dragon Boat Festival in June...stay tuned for details.

Attention Small Pets
The Resort is now accepting guests with small pets.
Several cottages have been earmarked for petstays.
Of course, there are rules and a waiver to be
signed (just so your people don't get out of hand).
Have your people call my people.

Hunter
Resident Pet
Look forward to running with you

Early morning light was too amazing not to share with you.

The moon on the water last night was mesmerizing...good start for the young couple getting married today.

La familia Marten have returned from the south...the martens are welcome guests as they control the insect population. I snapped this photo with my phone, I was talking on the phone and couldn't hear because the birds were so noisy...sorry for the quality.

As I was walking I noticed the Red Fife Wheat was peeking through the ground...how exciting! We continue to grow what we need to provide the freshest local produce - from our beef to our wheat to our vegetables....I think a goat (cheese) would complete the package. Any other thoughts?
