Woody Woodpecker dropped in for some peanuts today.....I waited for the laugh but he was too busy eating. The birds are starting to gather - isn't that a sign of autumn?
Rare sight - indoor swimming pool without any swimmers....doesn't happen often so I thought I would save the image. It's been a lovely week - tomorrow will be sad as the international crowd says goodbye. See you all next year!
Anne, the reason that you didn’t hear the woodpecker laugh is that this kind does not know how to! Your woodpecker is a Sphyrapicus varius – a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker (honest!). It’s the Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) that, in the role of Woody Woodpecker, guffaws endearingly. So it’s just as well you didn’t wait ……
